Classification

Congratulations on your decision to become a certified Salary Administration Specialist or Classification Specialist.  Becoming a Salary Administration Specialist allows you to process employee personnel actions using the appropriate actions and reasons, as well as understand pay policies and how they apply to employee actions. A Classification Specialist understands how positions are classified, how organizational structures are established, and how job duties impact classification and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) designation.

To become a Salary Administration Specialist, you must complete three courses:

  • Introduction to NC Pay Plans
  • Basic Salary Administration
  • Advanced Salary Administration

To become a Classification Specialist you must complete five courses, three of which are also included in the Salary Administration Specialist track:

  • Introduction to NC Pay Plans
  • Basic Salary Administration
  • Advanced Salary Administration
  • Classification Essentials
  • FLSA Basics

The Classification and Compensation specialty track will be open in 2011. Check back for details and updates.
